Astro turns your project into a folder of finished pages. Finished pages are exactly what we serve. So for most Astro sites there is nothing to change, nothing to install and no setting to find before you hand yours over.
That is why Astro is the first framework we support.
What we run for you
You do not set any of this up. It is here so you can see what happens to your repository once you have handed it over.
The one thing that does not work here
We serve pages that were finished before your visitor arrived. Nothing of yours runs on our side at the moment someone opens one. So if part of your site has to do work right then, it needs a server, and a server is the one thing we do not have.
These are the things that need one:
- Signing visitors in, and showing each of them their own page
- A form your site receives and handles itself
- A page that reads from a database while it loads
- Content that comes out different for each visitor
- An API route in your project, whether you wrote it or your AI assistant did
Plenty still works, because it happens in your visitor's browser rather than on our side. A contact form that posts to a form service is fine. So is anything your pages do once they have loaded, including calling someone else's API.
If your site is pages, words, pictures and things that happen in the browser, it works here. For most Astro sites that is the whole of it.
If you know what these are: an adapter with output: 'server', export const prerender = false on a route, a server endpoint in src/pages, or Astro Actions. Any one of them means the project needs a server, so it needs a different host. If none of that meant anything, the list above is the same thing said in full.
Every company that runs your site is European
Your site is hosted and served by Bunny, a European company, and everything we store stays in Europe. The delivery network is worldwide on purpose, because that is what makes a site fast. What stays European is every company we depend on and every copy of your data we hold. Your source code stays wherever you already keep it, which is your call and not part of our stack.
For GDPR that is the boring answer, which is the one you want. Your visitors' data does not leave the EU in our hands, so there is no third-country transfer to assess and no standard contractual clauses to keep track of for the hosting itself. What you put on the site is still yours to get right.
Bring the domain you already own. We point it at your site and https is included, issued and renewed for you, with nothing to buy and nothing to remember.
